Compact DIN rail mountable processors are used in a wide variety of applications from space exploration to industrial controls. Conveniently mounted on a standard DIN rail, these rack mountable processors may be assembled into a wide variety of configurations. Careful power management together with the use of interchangeable Type 6 COM Express modules permits the user to tune the design for high performance or low power. Advances in COTS computer modules provides a wide array of Intel processor architectures from which to choose.
Developed as an expandable architecture, the DIN rail computing system takes advantage of COTS Mini-PCI Express peripheral modules to effect I/O expansion. General purpose Mini-PCI Express modules provide serial communications, wireless services, network communications, data storage and a host of other custom-designed possibilities. This highly configurable peripheral subsystem, coupled to an equally configurable host processor make this DIN rail architecture uniquely suitable for a wide variety of applications.
Dedicated mini-PCI Express form factor mSATA drives provide high availability disk drive services for use by multiple processor cores. Intel multi-core i7 processor architecture is thereby provided with high speed stored data access.
